How did you come to do what you do (for a living)?
My interest in people from various cultural backgrounds started growing during my years of travelling around the world. This curiosity guided me in choosing my field of study. After I obtained my Master in Anthropology, I worked for over a decade across the globe for different, mainly humanitarian, organizations in management positions whereby leading and supporting diverse teams has been one of my main responsibilities. When I felt the urge to be more at home, around 15 years ago, I started to work as an independent consultant trainer and (team) coach for mainly international compagnies and organisations.
How might interercultures‘ customers find you unique?
My focus is on enhancing intercultural and leadership competences on a professional, team and organizational level and on getting the best out of diversity within (multicultural) diverse teams (DEI). I’m licensed to use the IRC (Intercultural Readiness Check) assessment tool to support this development. As a facilitator I use inspiring methods from e.g. Art of Hosting, Liberating Structures, Deep Democracy and various dialogue methods.
What do you like about working with intercultures?
Working with Intercultures means for me connecting with consultants from all over the world with different backgrounds and field of expertise. To have this amazing network will support me as a consultant to keep learning and developing myself which will benefit all international clients we are supporting.
In a global context, why do you think your work- and our collaboration- is important?
What inspires me is working with people with different perspectives and backgrounds and on searching ways on how to bring this together by creating more sustainable and effective decisions and solutions. I’m curious and always try to get a better understanding of the context I’m in and in what is needed to create a safe and inclusive work space whereby the different voices will be heard.
