From June 4th to 8th,2024, intercultures attended the international SIETAR Europa Congress held at the IÉSEG School of Management in Lille, France. The congress was centered around the theme of ‘The Ecosystem of Interculturalism’.
Intersectionality in Focus
We delved into the intersectional perspectives of intercultural communication, placing emphasis on race to forge new pathways in critical intercultural communication. We questioned what it truly means to undertake critical work in this field and examined decolonial approaches that expand the intercultural domain.
A Kaleidoscope of Disciplines
The congress was a vibrant tapestry of diverse disciplines- from neuroscience, anti-racist justice, migration studies, critical history, and even artificial intelligence. Each discipline brought its unique insights, contributing to a holistic understanding of how we make sense of interculturalism.
Reflecting on the Past, Shaping the Future
One recurring leitmotif throughout the congress was to make systemic dependencies transparent and to contextualize interculturalism within a broader paradigm by reflecting on the past and shaping the future collectively.
