Starting a Sustainable Relationship

In mid 2006, intercultures began a professional relationship with Johnson Controls, Inc., a global leader in automotive systems and building management and control. On June 22, 2006, an Intercultural Day was held at the German headquarters in Burscheid. Throughout the day, the thoroughly multinational staff was familiarized with, and made aware of the nature of diversity through peer presentations, an international food exchange and sampling of international specialties in the staff canteen. It was the role of intercultures to draw attention to the manifold options available in the area of intercultural management. CEO Stefan Meister achieved this through short films, role play, simulations, discussion and an exhibition of relevant literature. JCI’s intention was to make German and foreign staff alike aware of the influence of culture not only on their mutual interactions at headquarters, but also of the role it plays in cooperation with international clients. It is probably safe to say that in doing so, JCI was true to its motto of „exceeding expectations“.
